10 Things About Me
Really though. Ask my husband. When we go out to eat, 99% of the time I order the basic hamburger and even then I am sometimes disappointed. (And if it has bacon on it I usually take that off and give it to Travis.)
2. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I spent 18 months in New Hampshire and Maine talking to people about Jesus. I was completely out of my comfort zone and it was really hard. But some of my greatest experiences and friends have come from that year and a half. (I even took Travis, Sam & my parents back a few years ago.)
3. I really enjoy singing.
I switched from band to choir in high school and really enjoyed it. I even dreamed of being a lead singer in a musical, but I don't think I have that kind of talent and there wasn't time to do that and run cross country/track. For now I just sing with my kids and in the car. :)
4. I used to hate traveling.
Going on a mission scared me for several reasons, and being away from home was one of them. When I returned I ended traveling for a nationals handball tournament, headed to Belize with my parents for spring break and spent 5 weeks in Germany within a matter of months. I now love traveling, even with our 3 little kids; especially to warm locations.
I painted for a "living" before I got married and I once fell with a ladder on a mountain side and ever since I've never felt terribly safe being up high. It took me a while to get back up on the scaffolding after that incident. :)
6. My fake middle name is Olivia.
I don't have a middle name, but my maiden name was Stradley, so I always thought it would've been cool if my initials were SOS. In high school a friend gave me the middle name Olivia. All through college I had people call me "Stacey Olivia" or "SOS." This is one of the reasons our daughter's middle name is Olivia.
7. I'm terrified of sharks.
Ever since I was little. I don't know why. But even in swimming pools I would get nervous sometimes that I was going to be attacked by a shark. Although when I went to Belize I did face this fear a little by swimming with some sharks in the ocean...
8. I have an extra bone in my right foot.
I don't know why. Just a little one.
9. I started college as a drawing and painting major.
It's true. In high school one of my passions was drawing. When I got to college, I didn't love all the painting and I realized I had no idea what I was going to do with a drawing/painting major. I knew I wasn't going to teach. Thankfully, I ended up loving the photography course.
The fruit, not the bird. And not deathly allergic, my throat just starts to itch. But I'm totally fine with it, because I don't even really like kiwi. (See #1)
